EvaluationIN-HOUSE COMMUNITY BASED ASSESSMENT: The Client attends a One Week Assessment where he/she participates in both a Mental Status and a Physical Capacities Vocational Evaluation. The Consumer first engages in paper and pencil testing (WRAT-3, MMPI, SDS, etc...) to provide a vocational profile. This profile provides an objective overview of the Client's personality type, academic level, and overall job readiness status.

The participant is then given a "Hands-On" opportunity to perform 12 different types of Careers. This "hands-on" approach allows the evaluator to critique specific aptitudes, physical capabilities, problem-solving abilities, and other skills that are applied to the specific work- stations as well as other similar careers in the community.

  • Automotive (oil changes, tire rotations, etc.)
  • Clerical/Customer Service
  • Cashiering/Inventory Specialist
  • Computer Repair
  • Custodial
  • Construction (light or heavy)
  • Electronics (wiring lamps, doorbells, following a schematic)
  • Filing
  • Laundry/Housekeeping
  • Mail Sorting/carrier
  • Sorting/Ticketing

Other Available Assessments

SITUATIONAL ASSESSMENT/JOB SHADOWING:  The participant goes to an employer site in the Community and spends up to four hours a day, at least 3 days a week, performing competitive employment that has been decided upon by the Consumer and the referring source.

HOME-BASED ASSESSMENT:  The participant is evaluated on his/her current computer skills level, the type of home equipment at their disposal, and their ability to take oral and written instructions as they are needed for efficiently fulfilling tasks assigned to them.

COMPUTER ASSESSMENT:  In-house assessment to discern type of computer equipment needed for community oriented employment. Assessment also includes the Consumer/Client's current skill level in operating a computer.

CLERICAL ASSESSMENT:  Consumer's ability to use computer, keyboard and 10 key speed, ability to answer multiple telephone lines while taking messages, ability to file and organize mailings, etc.

LIFESTEP:  Utilizes previous vocational information (aptitudes, education, interests, work history, etc.) to compile a list of specific jobs that the Consumer/Client can do with current functional capacities, transferable skills, reasonable modifications, etc. This program provides a list of similar positions as described in the Dictionary of Occupational Titles.

LEARNING STYLE ASSESSMENT: 
The Client is given various paper and pencil, as well as, hands on tasks to establish how he/she best learns. We utilize tests such as WRAT, Myers-Briggs, Self Directed Search, DAT, and other selected assessments to obtain results especially helpful in clarifying whether one best learns by hearing, seeing, doing, etc. These assessment techniques are especially useful for those who have Traumatic Brain Injuries. Participant is rated as to ability to use a computer, keyboard and is measured for 10 key speed.  Recipient is evaluated for ability to answer multiple telephone lines while taking messages.  The Client is rated for ability to manage files and organize mailings, memos, messages, etc.
